UL P.82-96

City and suburb are places people live in a distonctive manner from each others. The experience of upbringing is different as well. Which, furthermore, might have a different in you outlook in life.

For the past 30 years, George Gmelch and Sharon Gmelch has been taking undergraduate to experience anthropological fieldwork first hand. Students  were doing fieldwork in both rural and urban area. In urban area, it is harder to identify a community and a local informant and most data gathering are results of interviews. On the other hand, rural area is easily identify community and effective participant-observation method easily apply. For example, Barbados a village where the students did their fieldwork. This village range in size from 200 to 800  people only. Each member of the  community knows  the rest of the community members; a shocking and fascinating fact to the student.

One interesting fact I learned is that half of the world's population lives in the urban areas and according to United Nation projections about 70 percent will be living in the city by 2050.
